Multi-media Journalism
Are you an international student planning on (or currently) living in San Diego? Are you eager to learn the ins and outs of the online publishing industry? Would you like to see your work published on an international website? MangoMundo LLC is looking for international interns to develop a new series of culture blogs specifically tailored to international students studying in the United States.
Internship Description
Working closely with the Creative Director, the Multi-Media Journalism Intern is the key manger of a series of city-specific culture blogs that host compelling articles and useful information. Interns are responsible for pitching ideas and receiving assignments for writing about activities, restaurants, events, and people in San Diego. All blogs are to be written in the intern’s native language and in English; the intern then works directly with the Internship Coordinator (and acting publishing editor) to improve their journalism and language skills.
Requirements
Interns must be creative self-starters who can work on their own to meet strict deadlines and manage several simultaneous projects. All interns must be computer savvy, able to take publish-worthy photos, publish photos and video, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Journalism/writing skills are a plus. Candidates must have high intermediate-advanced English skills. Interning for academic credit is a plus.
Intern Benefits
This is a perfect position for someone looking to gain experience in new media and web publishing. Interns work directly with a published author and editor to improve English skills and learn about the online publishing industry; in addition, interns receive an in-depth look at the most exciting restaurants, clubs, and neighborhoods of San Diego. All interns receive a letter of recommendation. MangoMundo is happy to complete any documents necessary for the intern to receive college credit.
Terms & Conditions
Interns should expect to work 10-15 hours per week: responsibilities include producing four articles each week and meeting with the MangoMundo Creative Director a minimum of once per week. Interns will also edit copy and search for errors and may also be asked to promote the MangoMundo blog through Facebook and other social media.
As part of our dedication to social responsibility, all interns are also required to dedicate a portion of their internship hours to Fundacion MangoMundo, a nonprofit organization (and MangoMundo LLC affiliate) dedicated to funding arts education in Nicaragua.
How to Apply
Potential interns must complete the online application.
All applications must include a photo of a mango which represents the intern, along with a description of why this photo represents the candidate.
